Hello everyone,
I have been keeping this a secret for a while now, and I have been wanting to share it with you guys today.
Since last year I have done the 28 to Motivate challenge (inspired by the Jenny Craig CD of the same name that has been ripped and uploaded to YouTube), I wanted to do it again but with a twist. That being said, the first three journal entries were written in a physical journal but the rest of the entries (except Day 13, as of now) are digital entries. All journal entries written during the challenge are now private because they contain intimate details about my past such as my weight and how I perceived myself in the past.
Basically, each of the 28 journal entries that I have done this month are inspired by a single audio file from the CD, but I modified them to fit my own personal style of writing. I love to write out my entries with a lot of thought put into them, and I included a daily affirmation at the end of each entry. Starting with Day 16 going forward, I have saved my journal entries on a few different apps (which I’m going to mention later), so that I can easily look back on them in the future.
After the final day of the challenge, I began doing my monthly recap in both my physical and digital journals. The physical journal recap is inspired by Cassey’s (aka blogilates) 2022 Fit Planner, where you get to write down your accomplishments and challenges you faced this month. There is also a little section at the bottom of the page where you get to set the goal for the next month.
The apps that I am using for my digital journal entries are:
- Reflection.app – https://web.reflection.app/
- Starting from Day 16, this is one of the apps that I have been using to store my journal entries from the challenge and get the inspiration for the day. It could be a quote or a question, but there are some guides that you can use as well. There are also monthly recaps and annual recaps that you can do at the end of each month/year so you can start the next month/year with a positive mindset.
- Day One –
- This is one of the first journaling apps that I have used, and I also store my entries from the challenge here. When you create a new entry, there are templates that you can use to reflect on many things such as goals, dreams, and emotions. I like to turn on notifications so I am alerted to write a journal entry each morning with the daily prompt as my inspiration for the day. (Having a premium subscription to the app allows you to enhance your entries by integrating your Instagram posts, adding videos, and you can even turn journal entries into personalized books!)
- Reflective –
- It plays a minor role in my digital journal entries but this app is linked with one sec so you can easily write an entry before going on a social media app (such as Instagram or Facebook).
With that out of the way, I’m going to (hopefully) set my goals for October 2024 and finish my monthly recap in my physical journal. I have a lot on my mind right now (that includes finishing up some more workout DVD reviews), but I will make sure that I have time on the weekends to finish them up. Thanks for tuning into Elli’s Journal, where I share pieces of my daily life on my blog!
