Hello everyone!
Today I am going to be starting a series in which we analyse the trailers of various Beachbody programs and see what we can find out about it!
First, I will watch a trailer (or a variation of it) of the program that I will be doing. Usually, I will get the information from my YouTube video uploads and/or any print material about that program.
Then I will watch it again and listen to the clients’ testimonies on how it helped them effectively lose weight in a certain amount of weeks. I will also outline the type of demographic that Beachbody is targeting.
However, I am not counting supplementary material such as online support, physical booklets, equipment, meal plans, and quick-start guides as part of the analysis.
“It’s time to rock your workout with Turbo Jam!”
“It’s time to party…”
The commercial starts out with some funky music and some people claiming that the program is a unique and fun way to lose weight. It then transitions into footage in which a group of students are dancing and having fun while doing it. Instructor Chalene Johnson (the creator of Turbo Jam) gives us an outline of her Turbo Training method, which combines kickboxing, dance, cardio, sculpting and abdominal conditioning set to the greatest workout music. She claims that Turbo Jam is a fun workout program in general.
The program consists of these 5 workouts:
- Learn & Burn: a beginner workout which teaches Chalene’s “Elite 11” moves and combines them into a short dance sequence.
- 20 Minute Workout: an ideal choice for those who want to see results in the shortest amount of time.
- Turbo Sculpt: introduces resistance training that helps sculpt lean, sexy muscles without adding bulk, and is faster than traditional strength training.
- Cardio Party: a 45-minute workout that is guaranteed to boost your metabolism, all while dancing to the hottest workout music.
- Ab Jam: an advanced ab workout for a tight and toned 6-pack.
A supplemental DVD called Punch, Kick & Jam is not shown in the commercial, but it’s shown on the official Turbo Jam calendar. It uses Chalene’s special Turbo Sculpting gloves to burn even more calories. This piece of equipment is optional, but I will not be using it for this particular workout.
The following claims are made in the commercial, so here’s the questions that I will ask myself to prove that they are true, as shown below:
- The hottest workout music: Does it really keep me engaged throughout the program?
- Fun dance moves: As an experienced trainee, can I follow along with Chalene and her class in general?
- Real, fast results: What can I use to determine how I feel after the duration of the program? Is there any physical/mental benefits to it?
- Burning up to 1,000 calories per hour: A university study showed some people burned more than 700 calories in one 45-minute workout. Can the total amount of calories burned per workout session account for the nutrition that I am getting each day?
Please stay tuned for the full review of Turbo Jam, which is coming soon!
