Hey everyone!
It has been a while since I posted on my blog, and there has been many things that happened near the end of the summer that I can’t really mention. But to sum things up, I have been really busy over the past few weeks and want to get back to posting regularly.
Recently I came across a Goodwill location in Bryant, Arkansas. Most of the workout DVDs offered in the DVD/VHS section of the store were Denise Austin titles (which I cannot upload to YouTube because the copyright is owned by Artisan Home Entertainment/Lionsgate), but I found a really interesting DVD that I wanted to take home with me.
Aside from all of the Gaiam yoga/Pilates DVDs that I found in various thrift stores, here are some of the best workout DVD finds from July/August 2024.
Minna Lessig: Emergency Workout (2001) – I was under the impression that it was going to be related to Trauma Team… ♡☆✿
…and the whole “emergency” vibe got to me. This is a workout designed for those who need to get in shape fast for special events, and contains two 30-minute workouts: a cardio-dance section and a total body toning section with weights. The initial workout plan is 6 weeks, which alternates both 30 minute workouts with a rest day. It also comes with an “intensive care” diet plan and tips for success as bonus features on the DVD release.
Prevention Fitness Systems: Drop it in 30! (2006) – I discovered this DVD when I was looking for other titles in the series, and this is essentially the same as the Emergency Workout. Chris Freytag leads these high-energy workouts with her own unique style.
The FIRM: PowerBurn 45 (2010) – Features three of the Firm Master Instructors, which led to me questioning this: Were the workouts released separately or is this a compilation DVD? The screenshots on the back of the disc indicate that each workout was from a different era of the Firm, and the total runtime of the disc is about 120 minutes. This is a series of workout videos that I have never tried before, but I’m sure they will help with getting the results that I want to see!
10 Minute Solution: Fitness Ball Workouts (2005) – I have reserved the 10 Minute Solution (along with QuickFix, another similar series of 10 minute workouts distributed by Current Wellness and Inspired Distribution) for use with the 10 Minute Trainer program, because the possibilities for creating your own workout are endless, and you’ll never get bored. This one seems like it has a great selection of workouts with the stability ball, and the instructor is quite nice. I guess this one can be a keeper!
Shape: Pilates Workout – Makeover your Abs, Butt, and Thighs Fast! (2007) – This is the second DVD in their Pilates for Pink program. Every DVD purchased donates a dollar to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, a nonprofit organization that promotes awareness about breast cancer prevention. You can still make a donation on their website today, and your support benefits the health of many women (and men) who need to have successful treatments for their breast cancer.
The DVD used to come with a pink rubber resistance band included with it, but I own a set of rubber resistance bands that I haven’t used yet. This is the first time that I am going to use them, and it features a familiar instructor: Lizbeth Garcia!
Lizbeth was previously from On the Ball: Pilates Workout for Beginners, but now she has returned after a long absence from my reviews. I hope this workout is executed well for me to leave a positive review on this DVD, and the review itself will be coming in October 2024 in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
That’s all for now! See you in my next post!
