For my future reviews, I have developed my own rating system based on the following factors within my home workouts. (Some of the factors shown below will not be used depending on the program.)

  1. Main Instructor (and backup instructors, if any are present)
  2. Set
  3. Outfits
  4. Music
  5. Production Value
  6. Overall Benefits
  7. Exertion
  8. Ease of Movement
  9. Audio/Visual Modifications (if any)
  10. Special Features (if any)
  11. Use of Equipment (if any)

Here’s an example of what a rating would look like on my newer posts.

Rating of Tantric Toning Workout with Stephanie de Phillipo (1998/2004)

Instructor(s): 10/10

Set: 10/10

Outfits: 9/10

Music: 10/10

Production Value: 7/10

Overall Benefits: 10/10

Exertion: 8/10

Ease of Movement: 8/10

Audio/Visual Modifications: 7/10

Special Features: 7/10

Use of Equipment: N/A

Total Score: 86

The total score determines if the workout is suitable for me, as shown below:

Below 50 points: The program isn’t suitable to fit my preferences.

51-70 points: The program could use improvement with most factors.

71-80 points: The program is decent enough to use, but can still be usable.

81-90 points: The program is likeable and I will recommend it on any given day.

90 points and above: The program is best suited for my tastes.

After the rating for the workout is given, I will grade it based on the overall intensity level and impact on the muscles, bones and joints:

Intensity Level:

Barely Noticeable*

Light Intensity

Moderate Intensity

High Intensity

*This is the lowest intensity listed on a trailer for Denise Austin’s home video collection, on a scale of 1 to 10. (chart shown below)

Source: Vintage Media Finds

It means that you don’t really feel the burn when exerting yourself.

Impact:

Low Impact – at least 1 foot (or both feet) are kept on the floor at all times; there is no jumping or jarring movements that could potentially strain your muscles.

High Impact – includes jumping, running, and other explosive movements.

Mixed Impact – a combination of both low and high impact movements, but usually sits in the middle.

EXAMPLE

Intensity Level: Light to Moderate Intensity

Impact: Mixed Impact

Along with the new rating system, I have asked Meta AI (on Instagram) to create a “workout mixer” to use with the 10 Minute Trainer program. 10 Minute Trainer will be combined with three other titles that I own:

  • 10 Minute Solution: Carb Burner (2004)
  • 10 Minute Solution: Hip Hop Dance Mix (2009)
  • Denise Austin: Yoga Body Burn (2007)

The review of 10 Minute Trainer will be coming soon, so please stay tuned!
